I'll get some proper pics once the wheels are on,won't be able to tuck the 18's like that though cos although the car won't look that low the problem with mine is the subframe clearance which becomes minimal very quickly, but i'll see how low i can go though cos i won't care so much about hitting the tarmac now lol

and not got a watch yet Jezz but will more than likely get that military g shock once i've got a few quid spare Smile

That's seriously low Dan and I'm liking the sump guard you've fabricated too. How are you getting on driving it, is the clearance ok?

Cars not really been anywhere since putting the guard on so don't know what clearance is like yet and the 19's have minimal steering lock due to catching inner wheelarch but once new wheels are on I'll look into it more and if need be I'll modify the inner arches, just need the adapters so I can crack on and start seeing what needs doing for clearance, hopefully things will go to plan but we'll see

Fingers crossed Dan. What's the delay with the adapters? Is it still just trying to source a set at a reasonable price? The sump guard looks great and if it cost you nothing and you fabricated it yourself, it's a double bonus. I can't wait to see the old girl running on the Porsche rims Smile

The delay with the adapters is just due to the guy making them been busy, that's all, could of just bought fk ones off the shelf but heard horror stories about them stripping threads which may be few and far between but heard good things about the quality of the ones that are been made so decided to go that route even though I knew they'd take longer,it is hard waiting though as the wheels are in my dining room and seeing them everyday since early december is a killer lol, just want them on so I can see what needs cutting/grinding etc to get the desired height and yes the sump guard is great cos at least its cost me nothing to make so it can be thrown away without a second thought Smile

I've not heard much about the FK adapters, but I know when I fitted the Porsche rims on my Mk2 GTI I took plenty of care torquing all the bolts up as I was paranoid about them coming loose as I'd read about that happening. I didn't realise you were having them made, is that locally by an engineering company?

The adapters are been made by a friend who owns his own enginering firm Si,he's also a proper VW nut and used to run our local Club GTI meets,he's currently got an A6 2.7t avant,an R32,a mk1 16v soft top,2 Golf countrys and a mk2 thats having a 3.2 put in it with a DSG box and full 4x4 system but thats been at the builders for about the last 5 years,he's a complete wizard when it comes to custom adapters he just takes frikkin ages making them. Cool

P.S.Car looks damn low Dan,I like it. Twisted Evil

Cheers guys and yes Gee it bottoms out a lot but i'm happy to lose a few mm of underside clearance by having the sumpguard there as it makes me feel a bit safer when i do hit the tarmac but not much lol and it's hard to get used to the sound of grounding out,i still pap my pants when i hear it hit ha ha
and there aint much love for it Dean,i gave it a clean cos i'd got the wheels on but it needs loads of bodywork doing as just about every panel barring the front bumper and o/s wing need repairs and paint and the only reason the wing and bumper are ok are because they were only painted a month ago ha ha,if the bodywork was good i'd probably put more effort into cleaning it Very Happy
