    The 4T

Post by boothy on Thu Oct 02, 2008 1:21 pm

after driving my sisters mk4 1.8T when i was 18, i needed one in my life. last year i got shut of the mk2 and bought a mint, 100% standard, 50k, 2000 reg red mk4 1.8T from a guy in beverly.

    after a few weeks i picked up a bargain i couldn't refuse on some 18inch rs6 rep's

after that not much happened, i fitted a sharan rear badge, fitted an ipod interface and got hold of a parrot bluetooth handsfree.

since i was travelling a fair bit with work, never had any money and a severe lack of time nothing else really happened

then yesterday i have the weitec shocks and springs fitted, not a HUGE drop, but a very nice, daily use drop that i'm more then happy with, the handling is 100 times better as is the ride, standard mk4 suspension is crap!

now i just need to trim my roof bars down and fit them with my thule fairing i had at the meet on sunday. plans for a black roof and b pillar are also underway. plus a few more touches over the winter all been well.

    thanks for looking

looks good joe, you i would put a pair of 15/20mm spacers on the rears and 5/10mm spacers on the front it'll totally transform it and'll look well phat

theres a chance the wheels might be getting changed lee so i'll see what happens with them first, if i space these though my only concern is rubbing of the arches? bearing in mind she's often heavily laden with camping gear, dogs etc etc. it is an option though. well chuffed the ARB is rubbing either, nailed it down bommandale (the worlds shittest bumpiest road) lastnight and there wasn't a noise! relief!

tom, cheers, no i havnt spaced the rears yet lol on the cards though

    cheers sarah

gee, im well chuffed mate, shortening the bars was a mare but worth it, had to make locks fit etc etc. looks spot on though now, the rear is actually about 50mm longer then the front because of where they fit, if i had gone for standard length then the rear would have been 2cm longer and the front about 7/8cm longer, glad i went custom.

gee do you realise how dissapointingly 'scene' that comment sounded? i thought better of you. Evil or Very Mad

not as bad as the tosser on e38 selling some s5 wheels though, 'buy them now before they get chavvy'. basically meaning good wheels that become popular instantly become sh1t because they are popular, shocking.

i know gee, you big homo

garf, i thought that, but its been put to the test and all was fine, did 90mph, took it down the bumpiest road i've ever driven and its lowered, and it was blowing a strong side wind last monday when i hit 90mph lol. they are clever bits on kit, the reassurance comes from the fact everything is solid metal, not a load of straps like the rear mount ones, used to have one of those, hated it, couldnt get in the boot and i never trusted it
